TOWN OF LAKE PARK
Under the direct supervision of the Special Events Director, this position is responsible for the implementation of all Town recreational programs and activities, management of sports and wellness providers and the coordination and use of all recreational facilities. This position also assists the Special Events Director in the implementation, promotion, and maintenance of Town special events.
Responsible for planning, organizing and scheduling all adult and youth recreational programs and activities, including the Town summer camp; managing all third party sports and wellness providers in the Town; coordinating the use of all recreation facilities; supervising camp counselors for annual summer camp; coordinating and overseeing Town bus trips; providing recommendations for new recreation programs and activities; assisting the Special Events Director in implementing, promoting and maintaining Town special events; and, serving as the Town’s Certified Playground Safety Inspector by regularly inspecting all playgrounds and reporting needed maintenance and/or repairs to the Special Events Director.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED plus Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education or related field required and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field and First Aid certification and a valid Florida CDL Class C Driver’s License or must be able to obtain such driver’s license within six (6) months of date of hire, as well as Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification or the ability to obtain such certification within one year from date of hire.
- Must also have knowledge of community recreation needs and resources; knowledge of the principles and practices of modern parks, recreation and wellness programs; and, the knowledge of principles and practices of personnel supervision and work organizations.
- Must be able to operate general office and recreation equipment; to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; to select, manage, train and evaluate assigned staff; and, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental officials, associates, subordinates, and the general public.
Salary range: $43,356.10 to $67,201.95. Starting rate dependent upon qualifications. Excellent benefits.
